Woj: Marv not so marvelous

Bergen Record

Columnist Adrian Wojnarowski takes Ratner, Inc. to task for shoving aside the highly-respected Ian Eagle to sign Marv Albert.

Eagle, out of the SU Class of '90, was one of those fast-rising stars, ending up on the Nets' sideline not long out of school, just like Albert had done with the Knicks. Eagle grew up in Queens, and as it turned out, that's the wrong borough to get to sit at the big kids' table with Bruce Ratner, Barry Baum and the rest of this Pocket-Protector Posse running his office now.

Together, they sucker punched Eagle, with Ratner, his pipsqueak lackeys and the YES Network executives holding Eagle's arms behind his back. It was a long, public and cruel emasculation. Albert crushed Eagle like a bug, because he could.
